It’s pretty quiet at the moment as the weather is so stable.
Migration has also been quiet.

Shelduck – several pairs seen on the marsh

Gannet – several seen fishing off Needles. These are probably birds from the Channel Isles.

Little Egret – only 2 seen in area; 1 at Hurst; one at Keyhaven. Not breeding.

Oystercatcher – 27 counted in total with several pairs resident breeding.

Ringed Plover – seen in the breeding grounds

Dunlin – 1 seen in full summer plumage.

Whimbrel – 1 seen. This is a migrating species passing through to northern breeding grounds.

Redshank – seen in the breeding grounds

Sandwich Tern – several seen feeding in the area.

Mediterranean Gull – 1 flying over the area calling.
